Last year the Brisbane Modern Quilt Guild under the leadership of Vic Mansfield made a quilt called Riverfire. It was our contribution to the QuiltCon Community Quilt challenge for Feb 16 QuiltCon . It’s inspiration was of the fireworks over the Story Bridge each happens each September in Brisbane.
Early in October the quilt was entered into the Group / Collaborative section of the Queensland Quilters show at the Craft and Quilt Fair, Brisbane.
And guess what…… we got first prize, winner are grinners. WOO HOO.
The guild was very excited to receive this award and thanks all it’s members who contributed. And a very special thanks to Vic for her leadership to making sure the quilt got finished.
We also entered the quilt into Quilts Across Qld at the Ekka (RNA) in August, where it took out second prize in the Group / Collaborative section.
So not only has out beautiful quilt got the first ribbon it also got a second ribbon.
